This year we mixed things up some more, combining Prize Giving with the AGM (Annual General Meeting).

We had more than a quorum at Sorrento in the Park, despite the issues of finding the right gate. The AGM followed the usual order. Daryl, our outgoing President, reported on another active year for the club – his report is here. The Treasurer only made the accounts and his report available on the day which kept the usual culprits from asking questions but he gave us confidence that the Club is in funds.

There wasn’t any contest for the President or committee. Fortunately, Trevor agreed to become President. Pree is vice-President and Ken West is Treasurer. Ken Williams, Graeme Collie, Debbie Scullin, Rod Philson and me (Editor) continue on the committee but we are looking for some more committee members.

The AGM was so slick we had time for Prize Giving before lunch. As for the past few years Trevor and Sue have been the most enthusiastic attenders of club events. As some of you may be aware Cornelius caused an upset at the Grass Gymkhana by taking out both prizes – to acknowledge this he was also awarded the Wooden Spoon. Janine Jeffrey regained her trophy for the top ladies time.

David Winn and Chris Scullin took out the writing honours this year. Ross Pengelly was somewhat belatedly awarded the Hard Luck Trophy for the seemingly endless problems he has had rebuilding his R107. This has been such a saga that at least one person thought Ross had already won the Hard Luck trophy!

It was great to see three new members on the day. Trevor noted that Clive Johnson, Jan Green, Percy Young, Sue Hancox, Iain Fletcher, and Linda Fletcher have been members of the Club for more than 20 years. They will be presented with new gold name tags.

It was also the day that Daryl stepped down as President of the Auckland Club. Trevor thanked Daryl and Janine for their contribution to the Club, and Roy reminded us that Daryl has also been national President. It is great that they have decided to stay members and we look forward to seeing them on the road. We also thanked Sue for her 110% effort while on the committee.

The proceedings were over and then we could move on to lunch – at least one person thought that the event lacked entertainment value and so he has volunteered to MC next year – thank you Chris Haliday!

As ever, we had a good meal and it was great to catch up with everyone. Thank you Graeme for getting all those prizes engraved, and to Rod for organising the venue.
