After the obligatory meet-up at BP SH1, we motored-off down SH1 heading to the Hampton Downs Raceway. There was roadworks along the way slowing us down as well as one or two cars that were determined to hold-up everyone else. We got there in the end.
Parking up in the centre carpark we assembled in the registration office and got our colour coded wristbands, eager to get the race (I mean cruise) underway. Lining up on the starting grid, the number of cars was huge, with 4 or 5 lanes of cars assembling. Of course, there was a delay of 30 minutes before we could get away and the exhaust fumes were getting pretty strong and it was hot to boot.
Race one was a very crowded with so many cars on the track but we still had an enjoyable drive. Race two was much less crowded, so we could have a good go with better speeds and a bit of competitive over taking. Much more exciting, but 5 laps were over all too soon.
Apart from one of our members car brakes over-heating, there were no casualties or mishaps.
After the track cruise was over, we bumped into the American Muscle Group and headed over to the Te Kauwhata Pub for lunch with them.
Another fun day on the race track for our club members
