The year 2024-25 has been successful, building on the accomplishments of previous years with 15 events held. Although I was unable to attend all of the events, the following stood out for me:
- National Rally
- Grass Gymkhana
- Run to South Waikato
The National Rally, organized by Trevor, received significant recognition, drawing participants from various regions, including a couple from Perth. Increased participation from Auckland members would have further enhanced the event.
I assess the current state of the club as stable. While membership numbers have slightly decreased, we are facing an issue with an ageing membership. This has resulted in fewer individuals willing to assume roles within the club, placing the responsibility on a limited number of dedicated members. These positions are not overly demanding or time-consuming and come with their own rewards. I encourage anyone interested to consider taking up a position.
Looking ahead to the coming year, changes in the National Club are anticipated due to new legislation. The club appears to be moving towards consolidation into a single entity with regional branches. This transition is expected to reduce administrative overhead while maintaining minimal visible changes for members. Although change can be daunting, I view this shift positively given the declining membership and the decreasing interest in committee roles.
I extend my gratitude to the committee members for their hard work and support throughout the year. Their efforts have contributed significantly to the fun and friendly atmosphere of our club.
Lastly, this marks my final year on the committee. Despite contemplating leaving the club, I have been encouraged by several members to remain a member. Thank you for expressing your views. Janine and I look forward to participating in club activities whenever possible.
