This Years Attractions

For families, the New Zealand Army will be bringing up a Scorpion Tank for the kids to climb on and explore; our car themed kids treasure hunt will be back with a selection of great prizes to be won; and the NZ Warbirds will be performing a fly over in a Spitfire at some point during the afternoon. There will be plenty of British & European food and refreshment options to choose from too (think Yorkshire Pudding wraps and Mediterranean mezes), with local DJs from East FM spinning period correct tunes throughout the day. New to this year’s show will be our Brit & Euro Revival area, where you can expect to wander around and admire cars with a racing heritage as well as cars of distinction.  The Auckland Jaguar Drivers’ club will also be celebrating the 60th anniversary of the E-type Jaguar, with a full display of cars dating from 1961 to 1975.

Health & Safety Restriction

Please note that once you are parked in the area designated as our showground you are not permitted to restart your engine or leave the showground until 1500. In other words cars must remain static to comply with the health and safety requirements that are imposed upon us by the Auckland City Council (NB – gates open to the public at 1000).

Classic Car Overflow Parking

If the H&S restriction referred to above is going to cause you a problem on the day, but you would still like to attend, please consider parking in our Classic Car Overflow Parking area, rather than with your Club marque..The overflow area is located just to the side of the main showground near the food trucks. You are permitted to come and go from the overflow car park at anytime between 1000 and 1500, but please drive slowly when entering & leaving this area as it is close to the food truck public walkway..

Drivers Welcome Pack

As you can appreciate it’s quite a logistical challenge welcoming 1,200+ vehicles onto the showgrounds and as always we appreciate your patience & cooperation on the day. Upon arrival, each driver should receive a goodie bag from one of our many friendly volunteers.Do give them a smile and do remember that everybody involved with putting BECCS on is a volunteer, committed to making your day and our car show the best one you will attend.

Covid-19
As with all events these days, the BECCS team is required to prepare and provide Council with our response to COVID-19. This will include displaying our NZ COVID Tracer app QR codes at the various entry points to our event, as well as in other highly visible and accessible locations such as around the food trucks. Hand sanitisers will be available at the entry points, around the food trucks, by the toilets and at our information tent too. However, it pays to come prepared and we’d encourage you to bring your own supply.

Masks

Please bring your own mask too, just in case they are required to be worn on the day. At the moment we envisage a show without masks, but we all know this can change in an instance.

Further information about our COVID response will be communicated in the coming weeks via email and through our website and facebook page. Stay tuned!

2021 Attractions

Club Displays

BECCS provides you and your respective clubs with a great opportunity to self promote your respective marques. This might be achieved by highlighting one of your cars, celebrating a milestone or anniversary, flying your flags, putting up banners or displays. As we aim to provide a relaxed family friendly atmosphere for our crowd of 10,000 to enjoy, we will greatly appreciate any display ideas that will engage with the future custodians of your classic cars – the Kids!

Gold Coin Donations

After our previous shows we have received feedback telling us that we seem to be missing a trick in not collecting a gold coin donation from each of the drivers upon arrival. There are a number of reasons why we haven’t been particularly proactive in this regard: –

  1. We pride ourselves on being a freecommunity event, put on by members of the community, for the community;
  2. Not many people carry cash around with them these days;
  3. Banking large amounts of cash presents the BECCS organisers with a headache; and
  4. The Howick Historical Village (HHV) is our preferred benefactor of charitable donations and they collect from visitors throughout the day.
    This year the HHV collectors are going digital, meaning if you are approached by one of them, and would like to make a donation, please have your EFTPOS card at the ready.
