13th February 2010 - Meguiar's Classic Car Fun Run
Thirteen club members (in 7 cars) took part in the Classic
Car Fun Run to Westbrook Vinery. The Fun Run is organised every
year as part of the Intermarque Concours D Elegance events and a
number of separate runs are organised with car clubs electing to
participate in any one of these. The Mercedes Benz Auckland Club
decided to head west to the Westbrook Vinery and by all accounts
it was a wonderful run through the picturesque Helensville countryside.
At the vineyard the participating club members were joined by members
from other car clubs from around New Zealand and enjoyed a wonderful
picnic lunch, pleasant conversation and of course the excellent
weather put out that day. For pictures taken at this event, click

07 February 2010 - Galaxy of Cars
An awsome response by the Mercedes Benz club members in support
of this event gives us a feeling of pride as we observed one after
another Mercedes Benz car arriving to take its place in the display
area allocated to our club participants. Some portraying even the
finer details of open picnic baskets in the back seat of their SL
series convertible made our display further attractive to all age
groups. The winner amongst the Mercedez Benz cars on show was the
Black 1967 250S displayed by Andy Burns.
What started as a hope to see more cars on display was soon highly
rewarded to eventually have 32 cars parked close together each happy
to display their polished chrome and paint, pointing to the love
showered on these gleaming pieces of machinery whether assembled
in the early 1950's or the late 2000's. The little vacant space
seen available in the photographs was soon absorbed by the not too
early arrivals and we were happy to accomodate all the participants
even if it meant squeezing in to every available space and to further
display the superior manoeuverablity of the Mercedes Banz cars.
The support displayed by each of you towards this event is highly
appreciated and to all of you who brought your cars to this display
from far and wide, we thank you for your efforts and we hope you
will feel proud to repeat this event and further expand on this
grand display in the year 2011. To see photographs of this wonderful

A wonderful Christmas Lunch was organised at Miranda
on the Firth, a renovated cottage overlooking the Firth of Thames.
The event went extremely well with attendees describing it as excellent
and well worth attending. Sylvia Sanford, was an exceptional host
with an exceptional venue and exceptional food prepared with quality
ingredients!! The Christmas lunch, and the sheer number of club
members who attended this event (45 attendees), took the Auckland
Club to a new level and we hope to find such new and interesting
venues for future events! To view photographs of this event, please

The Springtime Run in the Wonderful Waikato on 18th
October 09, culminated at Lloyd Marx' Restoration Shop in Pirongia.
After a superb lunch at the Persimmon Cafe, the group moved on the
Spyve's Panel Shop. A full report will appear in the Club magazine,
but in the meantime, for a sneak preview of the photographs, click
here.
The Club's annual Prize Giving Dinner was held on
Friday 14th August 09, at the Portside Bar and Brasserie. Twenty
four enthusiastic members braved rain and gale force winds to make
sure they did not miss out on this event. The evening started with
a bit of "mix and mingle" at the bar. At about 7.15 pm
we went in to the separate dinning area and enjoyed a well planned
menu with a choice of chicken, lamb or fish followed by some mouthwatering
desserts.
A number of our Club trophies were distributed that evening, amidst
much applause, laughter and acknowledgement for contributions made
over the past year. For a full list of Trophy Winners click
here. The evening ended with most staying on well after dinner
was over, making most of the opportunity to relax and unwind. To
see some photographs of the event click here.
The full report of the event will be published in the next issue
of the Club magazine.
